Like any adventure it started off with those famous words…….

"I can do that – no really, how hard can it be ?"

I was looking for a baby shower gift – something unusual… I wanted it to have meaning, maybe a little history. 

​

Then I saw an old antique steamer trunk and fell in love - with the stories it could tell and with the process of bringing these old beauties back to life.   

 

After almost 20 trunks, numerous scraped knuckles, several hammered fingers and more than a few creative curses the love hasn’t died.  I've learnt a lot about traditional trunk making techniques along the way, trying to stay true to the original workmanship whenever possible.

Some of my projects have had definite stories – a great grandmother who came over from Ireland in the 1880’s, an English war bride who packed all she owned to follow her husband to Canada, an eccentric aunt who traveled the country in the 1930’s as a clothes buyer for T. Eaton Co.

​

Others are cloaked in mystery, battered & bruised, just in need of a little TLC.

​

Working with antique weathered barn board just seemed a natural progression.

​

Some look at a crumpling barn and think – what an eye soar.  

​

I think….

Hmmm...... what could I make ??? 

​

So…….   One part inspiration, one part imagination, more than a dash of perspiration and a generous heaping of passion and viola..... Triskele Trunks and Treasures was born.
